Shopping
Aalborg’s pedestrian streets are like Eldorado for anyone who loves shopping. Do not miss out on the exciting little shops run by young designers and craftspeople – you never know what you will find.

Running
Even when staying in the city centre there are plenty of local parks that are perfect for a great work out. A different experience awaits you if you go for a run in Mølleparken during twilight. Here, you can follow a 2.5 km illuminated path and the route has a terrain increase of 45 meters.

Methods of payment
Danish currency is ‘kroner’ (DKK), EUR 1 equals DKK 7.44 and USD 1 equals currently DKK 6.29. Banks are open from Monday-Friday 10AM-4PM. International credit cards are accepted most places.
Tipping
In Denmark, tipping is not common. All service bills that you receive already include gratuity and it is therefore unnecessary (but always appreciated) to add a tip in Denmark.
Weather
Denmark has a temperate climate with mild winters and cool summers. Summer in Denmark is cool and pleasant, making it a great respite from hot weather. There are occasional hot days, but in general, summer is a great time to visit. Overall, the climate in Aalborg in July can be described as mild and reasonably dry. July and August are typically the warmest month of the year with daytime maximum temperatures average around 21 °C (70 °F), whilst at night 13/15 °C (55/59 °F) is normal.
Because of Denmark’s northern location, the length of the day with sunlight varies greatly. There are short days during the winter with sunrise coming around 8:30 a.m. and sunset 4:30 p.m.. As well as long summer days with Aalborg sunrise at 4:30 a.m. and sunset at 10 p.m. in the beginning of July,
Remember to dress in layers, and always bring a light jacket. It is also a good idea to bring an umbrella.
Electrical appliances
Electrical appliances run at 220v/50Hz in Denmark. Electrical outlets use a two-prong plug typical for continental Europe. Most laptops will automatically work with 220-230 volts (check the back of your laptop for power input markings).
No smoking policy
According to Danish law, smoking is prohibited inside any building, venue, hotel, bus, etc. Smoking is only allowed in open-air areas or designated zones.
Safe country
In general, Denmark is a very safe country. However, as with most major cities in the world, it is advisable to watch your belongings and valuables while in public places and to keep cars locked and valuables out of sight.
Aalborg is the happiest city in the EU (2016) and Denmark is often listed at the absolute top of rankings like: least corrupt country, most prosperous country, most peaceful country, and best country for women.

In case of emergency, please dial +45 112 to contact ambulance, police, or the fire department.
Hotel staff can also direct you to hospitals or dental clinics. For non-emergency illness, the medical authorities recommend consulting a doctor instead of going to the hospital. Your hotel will be able to help you.

Drinking water from the tap
Tap water in Denmark is sufficiently clean for drinking – and well tasting. Do try it.
Visa
Citiziens from many countries worldwide can enter and visit Denmark without a visa, with a passport or similar only. Information about how to apply for a visa for those who need one will be posted here in due time.
